“Our Government client experienced a two-foot wave of water in their newly built teleconference room. At first, the relief was due to the design of the DIRTT Walls in the space. They figured they’d just have to remove and replace the bottom tiles of the face-mounted walls. Upon inspection, while the drywall walls all had to be destroyed and removed, even the bottom tiles of the DIRTT walls withstood the flood. And because the walls didn’t wick water up – the televisions integrated into the DIRTT Walls were undamaged. As expected, the access floor was ruined by the water and had to be replaced but the DIRTT walls were disassembled, stored and re-installed once flooring was replaced.” – DIRTT Environmental Solutions

Cochrane Health Clinic case study

The Smartt Interior Construction team traveled to Chicago in June to attend the unveiling of DIRTT’s Green Learning Center, featuring it’s 2011 innovations in the world of sustainable, aesthetic, high performance workplaces and healthcare environments. “We were blown away” says Smartt Co-owner Mike Gallagher, “DIRTT’s integration of technology and out-of-the-box thinking in the world of healthcare, really showcased what’s possible by using a flexible and sustainable solution like DIRTT.”

DIRTT’s partner companies including Wahu Caseworks and Spider Agile Technology were also unveiling their new innovations. “Wahu’s modular casework featured details you just don’t see with traditional millwork” said Paula Klein, Project Champion and Co-owner of Smartt. “From drawers with interior lighting inside them, so you don’t have to wake-up the patient, to solid surface Corian being used to eliminate seams for infection-control, Wahu is continuing to bring new ideas to the table” notes Klein.

Besides attending the unveiling of DIRTT’s Green Learning Center, the Smartt leadership team also attended DIRTT’S Distribution Partner annual meeting and training event where the Smartt team learned about some exciting things coming from DIRTT, Wahu and Spider. Stay Tuned…….
